Ok i shall make it a point to blog milestones in my medical education and significant stuff in my life lest i forget which i seem more and more prone to do so.

Surgery End of posting test
Took my EOPT at TTSH, 8.30am. First practical test since the start of med sch so naturally was rather nervous. Was seated in the meeting room with the 13 others awaiting further instruction. People were busy mugging last minute details and going thru the physical examination steps in their mind. I was among the first batch to be tested at 9am, we were brought the the good old ward 11 and memories of csfc days flooded back. At that point i really hoped i would get an Abdo case. The Dr in charge then read out the cases we were assigned and told us to set off and start clerking. Our examiners would join us at the end of 30mins.
When i first saw my patient, i was VERY relieved she spoke english which makes history taking ALOT easier. Made the mistake of assuming she was malay whereby she pointed to my notes and said, btw im philipino. She complained of melena and frank pr bleed with past history of gastritis and significant family history of PUD. I first made the diagnosis of melena secondary to PUD but cleanly forgot to consider a second pathology causing the frank PR bleed. When questioned i accidentally blurted out malignancy as a probable cause of the PR bleed at which the examiner raised her eyebrows and went so.. u think at her age (34) a malignancy is most likely ?
I then quickly revised my answer to hemorrhoids and judging from her smile i guessed i was correct. Got the usual so how would u investigate this patient, what does OGD stand for, what are the symptoms of anemia and how would u manage hemorrhoids. At this point the examiner then smiled at me and said ok we are finished here, u may leave. Enjoy your national day holiday ! In my heart i was thinking who gives a shit bout the holiday, just tell me if i passed or fail omg.
Was only later that i found out from Jasmine who had the same examiner that both of us passed :)
08/08/08 also marked 1 year with lyn ! Suay huh, EOPT on anniversary day. Went to Aston's prime at centrepoint. Yummy steak for me ! Sadly lyn's steak was disappointingly tough. They did remember my request to insert a candle in the mudpie but they pinned a happy birthday sign too -_- Luckily they din start singing because i noticed a few of them were beckoned over. Nontheless i found my steak very good for value ($24 for a 300gm angus rib eye) and since there wasn GST or service charge it was a rather reasonable meal :)

Ok time to update.
Hols seem to have passed by so fast. now its time to mug !! and its xmas :( what a merry xmas this is gonna be.
I rmbr i started the yr by saying ok im definitely going to carol this xmas. now my xmas mood is all gone after attempting to read one of the crazy bacteria tables. No idea how im gonna rmbr all this shit for the CA and for the rest of my life.
Some new neighbour is moving in and his stupid 2 vans always fight with me for my "lot" hmph and today i found some scratches on the left side of my car rawrrr i suspect its by them cos their house is still having some construction works. luckily after car polishing those black marks can be removed. Sigh so now i have to fight with TWO houses for my nice shady lot directly outside my house. Sometimes im soo soo soo tempted to let my key slip from my hand and OOPS scratch their side. god help me.
Oh and earlier on today the car polisher was trying to advertise his TCM products to me because my mom told him earlier on that she had a colonscopy appointment. Smart mom left me at his mercy while she drove off grrr. Apparently his products are quite popular in hk cos they have won alot of awards o.O but ever since teo tian seng's lecture, i cannot bring myself to trust TCM products. Somethign bout, u do not know the exact concentration of the effective drug in the herb blah blah and may have side effects or drug drug interaction. Half of me was screaming to tell him kthnxbye but i politely listened on in the blistering heat (crazy weather blow hot blow cold/rain one)
Theres this product called imu6 or something which utilises milk from the COW when it has just given birth cos the milk would contain maternal antibodies which would then supplement my own immune system and improve health. In my heart i was thinking HMM. from what know, my own immune system would probably recognize the cow antibodies as foreign and mount an immune response rendering this health supplement completely useless ? may even lead to a hypersensitivity rxn ? No wonder at the end when he asked me what i was studying and i told him medicine his face dropped, HA.
Im glad my WOW has expired. Just in time too so now i would have one less distraction and more time to focus on mugging :) WOW is definitely addictive, one day without it and im feeling the withdrawl symptoms. luckily i left off when i was supposed to mindlessly grind 90 frigging more rocs/clefthoofs/talbuk so thats not exactly enticing me to return.
Lyn's coming back tmr :))
My pre new yr resolution would be to GET FIT and im proud of myself cos thus far for 4 days i have been gymming/swimming !! i hope this blistering heat keeps up so i can go swim and keep up with my fitness regime.

Half the hols are gone alr :( so fast. Went out with the OG on monday to watch mama mimia, found it kinda boring at some parts because they seriously broke out in song for no reason. Had dinner with lyn after that, over-ordered at shilin street snacks LOL. lesson learnt. Went to raffles city to collect BRISINGER, third book of eragon wheee. except that i doubt i have the time to read it because i have ABBAS to contend with zz.
I like weekends cos i get to eat good food with my parents :D
Went to Prime society at dempsey. Saw 2 ferraris, 2 audi r8s and 1 masserati parked there. Damnn... Ordered the fillet mignon which apparently is so tender because it is an unused muscle in the cow ! i wonder if humans have an equivalent muscle *drools*
Totally pwned the steak i ate the other day with lyn at the chicago's steakhouse at Cine whose signature steak TOTALLY sucks and at 24 bucks ain cheap. only cool thing is that they ignite a fire over your steak, other than that, it is UBER tough to cut and even tougher to chew. Poor mouth. On the other hand, the above fillet mignon has trounced every other steak i have eaten so far (morton included) and is on par with the one i ate at gordons grill (that portion cost 100+bucks) so yeah for $44, it is VERY worth it !
My goal in life is thus to be a steak connoiseur ! im just wondering how much i am gonna need to exercise to stay healthy hmm.
After hearing fred and alon tell me bout the coffee's club mudpie, i had to try it ! i must say it is definitely more worth it than NYDCs one and i seriously dont see how some ppl managed to finish one whole mudpie by themselves. omg, it is SUPER rich la !
Some chinese restaurant at kallang leisure park. quite intrigued cos its a chinese restaurant but the food presentation is western ? thats foie gras btw and since when was foie gras CHINESE ?! foie gras and a har gou on the same plate, really amusing.
F1 fever hits me ! i must admit i never even bothered to entertain the thought of going down to the F1 because i like cars and thats limited to normal production cars, not F1 cars. But yday my uncle offered us a pair of sky suite passes for the 3 days ! (worth some 5k on ebay apparently) so i'll be going with my dad on sunday (race night) :D free flow of wine plus food here i come ! weather forecast says 50% chance it may rain :( although the suite is indoors i hope i get to go out and actually feel the cars go by !

Hello ! Been a long time since i have blogged. too lazy and far too distracted.
The only reason im actually blogging now is because my wow trial acc has reached the lvl cap of 20 and im still considering if i shld subscribe. realised that real wow is ALOT different from private servers. gameplay is alot more interesting and varied :D plus hunter pet skills actually work. so fun !

Just looked thru the cholinergic notes AGAIN. stupid black background or blue bg on the com, still makes it uber hard to read. and whats with all the short forms. AMA. could they like just spell it out damn it. Shall not insult the sch system here just in case by some miracle some ppl from DO come across this blog. But suffice to say, im far from satisfied with "school".
OH and i must vent my anger bout this incident that happened today while driving
Was in the middle lane, overtook a van and filtered left to turn off at bayshore. The car in front of me at the middle lane also cut left so naturally i had to brake for him. Then i noticed him doing the tsk tsk motion with his index finger. At first i thought he was just playing with his finger (WTH) so i ignored. then i noticed he kept doing it as though he was trying to catch my attn and say BAD BOY DONT CUT LANE, just be guai and be stuck behind cars so ppl like me can cut. So i responded by flashing and he did this fist up action. Lucky i have been practicing cornering with one hand so i could sustain my middle finger pointing. pity he took the immediate left turning. really wanted to see his face.
which leads me to wonder, am i a bad driver ? i know im safe when i drive but i tend to be very quick to flash n point fingers and yet i am hesitant to horn ppl when necessary. weird. i shall do some self reflection on this. I seem to derive a sense of satisfaction when i deny some car from overtaking me. U know, look in the rear mirror, see some bmw cut out from behind u so u accelerate and match the car in the nx lane's pace so he is forced to return behind u. My own form of destressing perhaps. i can imagine ppl screaming ASSHOLE in their mind at this point of time lol.
Oh and i witnessed 2 lumpectomys, on wednesday :D
With rox and rebecca. Being my first time in the OT, i kinda was quite lost in the changing room, like the right colour of headwear. blue for surgeons. Got sent down to change footwear too cos apparently i was wearing someone elses crocs hmm.
Anyways, the diatome which the doc used to cut into the fats was damn cool la. just see the fats peeling away and the smell was quite bad and needed quite abit of getting used to.
The first patient had a 5CM tumour. after u include the margins that was ONE HELLUVA LUMP that was removed. so much so that the Dr had to re-arrange the fats inside the breast by stitching them together and removing some skin to prevent areas of depression in the breast.
I think im going to practice my sewing nx yr, the way he does it make it look so easy.

I think surgery is cool, looking forward to seeing more in yr3 !

What does national day mean to you ?
For me its just any other public holiday except that the marina area would be uber jammed. Gave up tix to watch the show because im simply no longer interested in our nation's bday. hmm where did my patriotism go ? When it started raining i went GG to those ppl there. Man am i sadistic.
Went to Prive at the keppel bay with lyn :) 08.08.08. nice date, nice dinner, gr8 time :D
Sadly the tables with the nicest view was taken and no one turned up even after we finished our dinner. RAWR
Outside prive, this is a damn cool looking water feature !
All the food we ordered. I had this prive fabulous burger thingy with wagyu patty. it is GIGANTUS. but super duper sinful and yummy. lyn tried the bluefin crab crepe which was surprisingly unique tasting ! Salad and soup for appetisers.
The atmosphere there is amazing. Cool winds, great scenery, nice warm lights, albeit a bit too dark. Im accustomed to seeing my food clearly ! that lil candle in a lamp provided ain enough but then again if the place were brighter, the laid back atmosphere would have been ruined.
The lights on the bridge can change colour ! cool stuff
Yeah my uber burger closeup. All the sinful food im gorging myself with, no wonder i have put on weight. (had the jap buffet at vivo yday think its called aji hanabi or something.) Today tried the shang palace at shangri la. OMG so much rich stuff in such a short period. i MUST get back to my exercise regime.
This pic was taken shortly b4 the night turned dark. I realised its very very difficult to take nice shots in the dark. i must go hunt down a camera with better night shot capabilities.
OG outing at sentosa on wed. Ha my first succesful og outing. I feel so proud :) even though they were more than an hour late -_- Bored jojo gan n i went one round in an excruciatingly slow tram ride round siloso beach. thank god they came b4 we boarded the one to palawan.
Crazy place was pack with nus students. engin ppl occupying siloso and fass taking palawan. Luckily we managed to find a volleyball court near a nice rock formation where we could dump our stuff and for the girls, NUAH.
Our volleyball is improving :D ha but thats only because we play with no rules. oh and i copyright the pass SMACK move ok !
Headed to vivo after that for dinner. Had asian kitchen. Chilli sauce soft shell crab noodles. OMG ITS DAMN DAMN DAMN GOOD. Jonathan ordered the same and we drew green eyes from all round the table mwhahah
Rag day ! Ha im surprised i actually bothered to head down to rag at 5 am to help out with make up. Had mac breakfast with lyn at ecp b4 that. thankfully i ate a full meal cos i din eat for the nx 8 hours !!
I spent like 2 hours applying gold body paint on the dancers faces. Its fun :))) seriously ! esp since i can torture ppl like fel who had to run off halfway to rehearse with her face half done. Rather ridiculously half done too hehe.
Irony is that when i first started to go round asking who wanted their faces painted, all shunned me. Then after the first rehearsal they all came running back asking me to help them touch up HAHAHA. Chance was my first male guinea pig. real pity i din get to work on chins :(
Sigh sch is starting tmr. SIAN. year 2 beckons and there goes my fun and games. Time to mug !

Ok long messy post once again cos im sucha lazy ass.
Din do much the pass week cos i basically stayed home to recover from my flu :( one precious week of my hols gone.
Yday was chance's surprise bday party !
We caught him totally unawares ! ( he was in his undies so yeah we were THAT GOOD ) his mom helped us a real lot by distracting him cos we werent that quiet. Gan's balloon scrapped the wind chime, evy kinda yelped a lil when the candle fell. ha and chins was the best. told chance that he was gonna shit, dota later.
Behind the scene preparation. Jojo told us not to park near the house and she herself parked right OUTSIDE HIS HOUSE. wah lau -_-
The only sensible things guys would do when they have balloons :) check these 3 babes out !

Bros bday on the 21st july.
Went to the Thai sharksfin village thingy at kallang. I love the starchy soup over those clear soups served at chinese restaurants !
At minds cafe before the dark knight charity screening. This game dragged for surprisingly long considering we pulled off quite a few really difficult shots ! surgical precision eh ?
After the dark knight screening. my neck really did hurt after spending 2 hours plus in the FRONT ROW. BLOODY HELL and i thought front row seats were 5 bucks. why did i pay 10 ?

Karaoke at chins house ! Was supposed to be some big outing but kinda kept shrinking :(
OO the audi s5. went down last weekend to check it out. SOLD OUT TILL MARCH09. omg man. some journalist took the car out so couldn test drive. shld be going down nx week to witness the V8's ROAR.
Saw this today at harvey norman. 103 inch HDTV. i hope one day in the future, all houses would have TVs this big.

Yday was chance's surprise bday party !
We caught him totally unawares ! ( he was in his undies so yeah we were THAT GOOD ) his mom helped us a real lot by distracting him cos we werent that quiet. Gan's balloon scrapped the wind chime, evy kinda yelped a lil when the candle fell. ha and chins was the best. told chance that he was gonna shit, dota later.

After the dark knight screening. my neck really did hurt after spending 2 hours plus in the FRONT ROW. BLOODY HELL and i thought front row seats were 5 bucks. why did i pay 10 ?

OO the audi s5. went down last weekend to check it out. SOLD OUT TILL MARCH09. omg man. some journalist took the car out so couldn test drive. shld be going down nx week to witness the V8's ROAR.
Saw this today at harvey norman. 103 inch HDTV. i hope one day in the future, all houses would have TVs this big.
